PDP MLA Questions “Paper Disbursal”, Says Beneficiaries Yet to Receive Cash; Seeks Accountability from Govt
Srinagar, Feb 20: Member Legislative Assembly Pulwama Waheed-ur-Rehman Para has raised serious concerns over the implementation of the Ladli Beti Scheme and the Marriage Assistance Scheme, alleging that hundreds of crores shown as “disbursed” have not actually reached beneficiaries.
Referring to official replies tabled in the Assembly, as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, Para claimed that nearly ₹300 crore under Ladli Beti Scheme and ₹234 crore under Marriage Assistance Scheme have been marked as disbursed, while a substantial portion around ₹200 crore and ₹70 crore respectively — remains pending in the treasury.
He questioned how funds that have not left the treasury can be termed as disbursal, stating that “this is paperwork dressed up as relief” and asserting that the poor need money in hand, not figures reflected in official files.
Para sought accountability from the government and urged clarity on the actual status of payments to beneficiaries under both welfare schemes.
The official data tabled in the House indicates cumulative sanctioning and financial allocations over the past three financial years, including the current year, with clarifications regarding bills pending in the treasury for payment. (KNC)
