New Delhi, Jan 25: The Government of India on Saturday announced the Padma Awards 2026, one of the highest civilian honours of the country, recognising 131 distinguished personalities from India and abroad for their exceptional contributions in diverse fields.
The list this year includes several prominent national figures, with legendary actor Dharmendra Singh Deol (Posthumous) being conferred the Padma Vibhushan for his contribution to Indian cinema. Renowned Malayalam actor Mammootty has been awarded the Padma Bhushan, while former Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandhan (Posthumous) has also received the Padma Vibhushan for public service.

Alka Yagnik – Padma Bhushan (Art)
Uday Kotak – Padma Bhushan (Trade & Industry)
Vijay Amritraj – Padma Bhushan (Sports)
Rohit Sharma – Padma Shri (Sports)
Harmanpreet Kaur Bhullar – Padma Shri (Sports)
From Jammu and Kashmir, social worker Brij Lal Bhat and noted literary figure Prof Shafi Shauq have been conferred the Padma Shri, highlighting contributions from the Union Territory.
For 2026, the President has approved 131 Padma Awards, including 5 Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan and 113 Padma Shri awards. Among the recipients, 19 are women, six belong to the Foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI category, and 16 awards are posthumous.
The Padma Awards are conferred by the President of India at ceremonial functions held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, usually during March or April.
