Anantnag, July 30: Residents above 18 years of age in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district are facing severe difficulties due to the ongoing suspension of new Aadhaar card generations. Local applicants have expressed growing concern, as the absence of a adult enrolment center in the district is blocking access to vital public services, including welfare schemes, banking operations, and employment documentation.
The affected applicants are increasingly anxious over the mounting administrative delays, which leave many unable to access essential services.
Residents visiting the enrolment center inside the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Anantnag are being turned away empty handed after being informed that fresh enrolments for above 18 age have been temporarily halted and cannot be processed in Anantnag.
Speaking to NV101, Manzoor Ahmad Dar, a resident of Cherri Panjgam, Kokernag, said, “I wanted to apply for an Aadhaar card for my wife, but after arriving here, I was told it couldn’t be done here. I was advised to go to Srinagar instead, where her Aadhaar card would be processed.”
The disruption has caused severe hardships for above 18 applicants who previously missed enrolling. Applicants and community members have appealed to the Deputy Commissioner of Anantnag and relevant authorities to resolve the issue promptly and re establish adult enrolment services to prevent further delay.
