Anantnag, August 09: Senior National Conference leader and Vice District President Anantnag, Imran Amin Shah, today conducted a comprehensive visit to Sernal Bala, Anantnag, to review the progress of ongoing development works and assess the status of various pending projects in the area.
During his visit, Shah interacted with local residents, listened to their grievances, and took stock of the progress of public infrastructure and other developmental works. He assured the people that pending and stalled projects would be taken up on priority and that every possible effort would be made to ensure their timely completion.
Reaffirming his commitment to inclusive development and public welfare, Shah said that the concerns of people at the grassroots level would remain a top priority. He stressed that genuine civic issues must be addressed through sustained public engagement, effective coordination and timely intervention.
Reacting to the ongoing political controversy surrounding the FIR registered against Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Iltija Mufti, Shah launched a sharp political attack on the PDP, describing its recent protests and public campaign as a “political show and facade aimed at creating noise and securing public sympathy.”
Imran Shah questioned the rationale behind the PDP’s response to the police action, stating that allegations of physical aggression during a confrontation, if established, are matters that should be dealt with strictly in accordance with law. He said political leaders and parties should allow due legal processes to take their course rather than turning every police or legal proceeding into a political confrontation.
He further alleged that the PDP was attempting to exploit the controversy for political mileage and create an impression of victimhood instead of addressing the substantive issues confronting the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“The PDP’s protests appear to be more about political optics than public interest. Genuine public issues deserve serious political engagement, not manufactured controversies and street-level theatrics. If there are allegations, the law should take its course, and every political party must respect due process,” Shah said.
His remarks come amid a widening political row in Jammu and Kashmir over the FIR and subsequent demonstrations involving PDP leaders. While the PDP has accused the authorities of political targeting and excessive action, its political opponents have questioned the party’s response and termed the protests an attempt to derive political mileage from the controversy.
Imran Shah maintained that political discourse should remain centred on governance, development, public welfare and accountability, rather than being reduced to confrontational politics and publicity-driven campaigns.
He reiterated that the people of Anantnag expect their elected representatives and political leadership to remain focused on development, resolution of public grievances and strengthening democratic institutions.
