India Not a ‘Broker Nation’ Like Pakistan”: Jaishankar at All-Party Meet on West Asia Crisis

New Delhi, Mar 26: The Government on Wednesday told an all-party meeting that India has clearly conveyed its concerns over the ongoing West Asia conflict, with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar asserting that India is “not a dalaal (broker) nation” like Pakistan.

According to sources as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, Narendra Modi has communicated to Donald Trump that the prolonged conflict in West Asia must end at the earliest as it is impacting all countries. During the meeting, Jaishankar reportedly remarked that Pakistan’s role as a mediator is not new and claimed that it has been “used” by the United States since 1981.

The Government also rejected Opposition allegations of silence on the issue, stating that India has been actively responding and engaging diplomatically. It highlighted that senior officials, including the Foreign Secretary, have taken appropriate steps such as visiting embassies and expressing condolences where required.

Officials informed the meeting that India’s primary focus remains the safety of its diaspora in the Gulf region and ensuring uninterrupted energy supplies, adding that both fronts are being handled effectively so far.

However, Opposition leaders expressed dissatisfaction over the Government’s response and demanded a detailed discussion on the issue in both Houses of Parliament, saying the situation warrants a broader debate.

The meeting was attended by key Union Ministers including Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah and Nirmala Sitharaman, along with representatives from various political parties. (KNC)
