No Proposal for Constituency-wise Medical Blocks in Srinagar: J&K Govt in Assembly

Srinagar, Feb 3: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday said that there is no proposal at present to create constituency-wise medical blocks in Srinagar district.

Replying to a question raised by MLA Sheikh Ahsan Ahmad in the Legislative Assembly as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, Health Minister Sakina Itoo informed the House that Srinagar continues to function with one medical block and four medical zones.

She said that the four medical zones are working directly under the administrative control of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Srinagar, and despite the limited number of medical blocks, healthcare programmes and services are being delivered smoothly with the existing manpower and infrastructure.

The Health Minister added that the existing setup caters to all eight Assembly constituencies of Srinagar district. “There is no proposal under consideration at present to increase the number of medical blocks,” she said.

However, Sakina Itoo clarified that any future decision regarding the creation of additional medical blocks would depend on requirement, feasibility, and availability of manpower and infrastructure. (KNC)
