Jammu, April 30: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo on Wednesday inaugurated the Jammu and Kashmir Security Operations Centre (JK SOC), marking a major step towards bolstering the Union Territory’s cyber security infrastructure.
Among those present on the occasion were Additional Chief Secretary (Financial Commissioner) Revenue Shaleen Kabra, Principal Secretary Home Chandraker Bharti, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar, Secretary IT Dr. Piyush Singla, Director General National Informatics Centre VTV Ramana, CEO Jammu and Kashmir e-Governance Agency Mahima Madan and SIO NIC J&K J. S. Modi.
The JK SOC has been established to enhance the cyber security framework of the UT administration by providing round-the-clock monitoring, threat detection and incident response capabilities to safeguard critical government digital infrastructure and sensitive data.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Secretary stressed that with the rapid digitization of government services, ensuring robust cyber security has become imperative. He said the SOC will act as a nerve centre for protecting digital assets and ensuring secure and seamless delivery of e-governance services to the people.
The centre is equipped with advanced tools for real-time threat intelligence, vulnerability assessment and security analytics. It will also coordinate closely with national agencies, including CERT-In, for effective cyber incident management.
Earlier, Senior Director NIC Anil Kumar Sharma delivered a detailed presentation on the functioning and capabilities of the JK SOC.
Senior officers from the IT Department, Divisional Administration Jammu and technical experts were also present during the inauguration.(KNC)
