Anantnag, 27 June 2026: In its continued drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse, Anantnag Police achieved another success by apprehending a drug peddler and recovering contraband from his possession.
A police party of Police Station Srigufwara intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration No. JK03B-5513 at Hugam Crossing. The motorcycle was being ridden by Huzaif Bhat S/o Ghulam Bhat R/o Poshkreeri.
During his personal search, approximately 6.09 grams of charas was recovered from his possession. The individual also appeared to be under the influence of narcotic and psychotropic substances. He was subsequently taken to a hospital for a preliminary medical examination, where he tested positive for consumption of narcotic drugs.
Accordingly, FIR No. 63/2026 under Sections 8/20/27 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Srigufwara, and investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source and intended distribution of the recovered contraband.
Anantnag Police reiterates its commitment to combating the menace of drug abuse and trafficking and appeals to the public to continue supporting the police by sharing any information related to narcotics so that society can be kept safe and drug-free.
