KULGAM: In a strong push for local development and tourism, Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party’s Constituency Incharge for Kulgam, Er Aaqib Shafi, has urged the district administration to urgently intervene and develop the scenic Kanjikulla Yaripora waterfall into an official tourist destination.
Comparing its natural charm to the famous Ahrabal Falls, Shafi termed the spot a “Mini-Ahrabal” that holds the potential to completely transform the socio-economic landscape of the surrounding regions, including Katapora, Brahada, Yamrach, and Check Kanjikulla.
Speaking on the current state of the waterfall, Er Aaqib Shafi expressed deep regret over its dilapidated condition, calling it a textbook example of political apathy.
”For the last three decades, this beautiful natural resource has faced total neglect. The people of this area have been betrayed by successive leaderships who failed to see the immense potential right under their noses,” Shafi stated. “Right now, the site is in a completely devastated condition due to a lack of maintenance.”
Shafi made a humble appeal to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam to prioritize this project under the district’s tourism development plan.
”We urge the administration, especially DC Kulgam, to take immediate note of this public demand. Developing this site will not only restore the beauty of Yaripora but will also give the people of Kulgam a renewed sense of hope and development after decades of being left behind,” Shafi said.
