Anantnag, July 4: The Chief Education Officer (CEO), Anantnag, has issued a comprehensive circular directing all Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) and Heads of Institutions to strictly implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) during the ongoing summer break to ensure the safety and security of school premises, protection of official records, and smooth administrative functioning.
The circular, issued in compliance with Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK) Order No. 243-DSEK of 2026 dated June 30, 2026, lays down detailed guidelines aimed at safeguarding educational institutions during the vacation period.
According to the circular, schools have been instructed to activate CCTV surveillance and alarm systems wherever available and seal or restrict access to sensitive areas such as laboratories and rooftops to prevent unauthorized entry.
The CEO has further directed school authorities to inspect fire extinguishers, emergency exits and electrical wiring, while ensuring rooftop drains and water and sanitation facilities remain functional and properly maintained throughout the break.
To prevent theft, loss or damage, all Heads of Institutions have been instructed to keep academic and financial records in safe custody and ensure digital records are backed up on secure cloud storage or physical drives.
The circular also directs schools to provide students with clear instructions regarding holiday homework, reading assignments and academic projects so that learning continues during the vacation period.
Additionally, institutions have been asked to prepare duty rosters for essential administrative staff engaged in admission-related work without claiming detention duty, besides deploying Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) for round-the-clock watch and ward of school assets during the summer break.
The Chief Education Officer emphasized that the overall responsibility for the safety and protection of school infrastructure, records and institutional assets rests with the Heads of Institutions and concerned staff. The circular warns that any negligence or laxity in implementing the prescribed instructions will be viewed seriously and appropriate action may follow.
The circular has been forwarded to the Director School Education Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, all Principals, Zonal Education Officers and Headmasters of the district for information and necessary compliance. (KNC)
