Anantnag, Apr 23: In a major enforcement drive, the Drugs Control Department, Anantnag, carried out intensive inspections on 22.04.2026 across medical establishments located in Lazibal, Sarnal, Cheeni Chowk, Sirgufwara and other adjoining areas of the district.
The drive was conducted to ensure strict compliance with the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and to curb the misuse of prescription drugs with addiction potential.
During the inspection, around 15 medical sale establishments were thoroughly checked. Records of prescription drugs were scrutinized on the spot to detect any leakage or misuse.
Four medical shops were found non-compliant and were closed down on the spot under Section 22(d) of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, Kanroo Pharmacy, Laizbal ALL MS Medicate, Sarnal kP road Murad Medicate, Sarnal KP Road, Atif Medical Shop, Cheeni Chowk Anantnag.
The Department reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against violations and warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found compromising public health.
Such enforcement drives will continue across the district to ensure the availability of safe, standard, and quality medicines to the public. (KNC)
