New Delhi, July 22: The Central Government on Tuesday reiterated its willingness to hold a discussion in Parliament on the NEET paper leak issue, with Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju stating that the government has been ready for such a debate since the very first day of the ongoing session.
Addressing the Lok Sabha, Rijiju said the government has consistently maintained that the discussion should take place in accordance with parliamentary rules and established procedures. He noted that the timing, duration and the specific rule under which the debate will be held would be decided after consultations with the Floor Leaders of all political parties.
The minister emphasized that the Centre has no objection to discussing the NEET paper leak and is committed to ensuring a meaningful and constructive debate in the interest of students and the country’s education system.
Rijiju said the government’s objective is to hold a discussion that contributes to safeguarding the future of the nation’s youth rather than engaging in political confrontation. He reiterated that the Centre remains prepared for deliberations on the issue and expects all parties to participate constructively.
The NEET paper leak controversy has remained a major issue in Parliament, with opposition parties demanding an extensive discussion and accountability over alleged irregularities in the examination process. The government has maintained that it is open to debate while insisting that parliamentary procedures be followed.(KNC)
