“Lack of preventive measures caused immense threat to life through infections and Dog menace”
Anantnag, May 07: Urging immediate relocation of the dumping site near Arpath Nallah at Donipawa, Anantnag, which is posing a serious health threat to local residents, senior NC leader and District Vice President Anantnag, Imran Amin Shah, said that despite repeated appeals for shifting the site and adopting preventive measures, the local administration has turned a blind eye in alleged nexus with contractors of Municipal Committee Anantnag and RDD Blocks Anantnag and Achabal.
During a visit to the site Shah alleged that the area has been completely converted into a vulnerable dumping site without adequate preventive measures or protection of nearby water bodies, despite the presence of a large population belonging to economically weaker sections living in the vicinity.
Shah said the unchecked and unprotected dumping has led to a severe dog menace and frequent infections, particularly during the summer season. He further stated that the accumulation of waste has contaminated the waters of the local Arpath Nallah, posing a serious health risk to several downstream habitations that are heavily dependent on the stream.
