India Advises Nationals to Leave Iran Amid Evolving Situation

Embassy in Tehran Issues Fresh Advisory, Urges Caution and Immediate Registration

Srinagar, Feb 23: The Embassy of India in Tehran has issued a fresh advisory urging Indian nationals currently in Iran to leave the country using available means of transport, including commercial flights, in view of the evolving situation.

As per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, the advisory dated February 23, 2026, reiterates the Government of India’s earlier advisories issued on January 5 and January 14, asking Indian citizens, including students, pilgrims, business persons and tourists, to exercise due caution and avoid areas witnessing protests or demonstrations.

The Embassy has advised all Indian nationals and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) in Iran to remain in close contact with the Indian Embassy and closely monitor local media for updates. They have also been asked to keep their travel and immigration documents, including passports and identity cards, readily available at all times.

The Embassy has shared emergency helpline numbers for assistance and urged those who have not yet registered with the Indian Embassy to do so at the earliest through the official registration link available on its website. In case of internet disruptions in Iran, families of Indian nationals in India have been requested to complete the registration process on their behalf. (KNC)
