Srinagar, July 4: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the overall management, security, and logistical arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, directing all departments to ensure the pilgrimage is conducted safely, smoothly, and in strict adherence to established guidelines.
The review meeting was attended by senior officials, including Atal Dulloo, Nalin Prabhat, senior officers of the Civil Administration, Police, Security Forces, the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, Intelligence Bureau, Home Department, and other concerned agencies.
During the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor reviewed the movement of pilgrims, traffic regulation, security deployment, accommodation facilities, registration status, and other operational arrangements aimed at ensuring the smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
The meeting noted that an unusually high number of devotees have been arriving in Jammu and Kashmir without valid Yatra registration, resulting in delays and extended waiting periods for registered pilgrims.
Emphasizing strict compliance with the directions of the Supreme Court of India, the Lieutenant Governor said that the movement of pilgrims on the Yatra routes is regulated according to the prescribed daily ceiling to safeguard the safety, security, and convenience of all devotees.
He reiterated that only pilgrims possessing a valid registration permit for their allotted date will be permitted to proceed on the Baltal and Pahalgam tracks leading to the Holy Cave Shrine.
Appealing to intending pilgrims who have not yet completed registration, the Lieutenant Governor urged them to postpone their journey for the next few days to avoid inconvenience upon reaching Jammu and Kashmir.
The administration also advised all devotees to complete the mandatory registration process and obtain a valid Yatra Registration Permit before commencing their pilgrimage, making it clear that unregistered pilgrims will not be allowed to undertake the Yatra.
Reviewing the overall security and logistical framework, the Lieutenant Governor directed all civil departments, security agencies, and stakeholders to maintain close coordination and continuous communication. He also instructed authorities to work closely with Langar organizations, service providers, and voluntary organizations to ensure a safe, seamless, and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage experience for all devotees.(KNC)
