New Delhi, July 29: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday welcomed the passage of the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha, saying the legislation strengthens the integrity of public examinations by prescribing stringent punishment for those involved in exam malpractices.

Congratulating students across the country, Shah said the amended law safeguards the dreams and aspirations of millions of young people by introducing “iron-clad provisions” against the use of unfair means in public examinations.

In a post on X, the Home Minister said the legislation imposes the harshest penalties on individuals attempting to compromise the sanctity of examinations and sends a strong message against organised cheating and paper leaks.
