Srinagar, May 18 : Baramulla Member of Parliament Engineer Rashid was on Monday granted temporary bail to attend the funeral rites of his father, Haji Khazir Mohammad Sheikh, who passed away after a brief illness in New Delhi.
Family sources said that Rashid, presently lodged in Tihar Jail, has been permitted to participate in the last rites following the demise of his father at AIIMS Delhi. Sources added that the bail has been granted till June 2.
Earlier, Rashid had also received interim bail on April 28 to meet his ailing father. After staying with his family for a few days, he surrendered before jail authorities on May 6.
According to family members, the funeral prayers and burial of Haji Khazir Mohammad Sheikh will take place at their ancestral village in Langate area of north Kashmir. (KNC)
