Policeman Injured While Averting Fire Mishap at PIB Office Srinagar

SGCT removes burning gas cylinder at Press Colony; blaze brought under control by Fire & Emergency Services

Srinagar, Mar 11: A fire incident was reported at the Press Information Bureau (PIB) Office at Press Colony in Srinagar on Wednesday evening leaving policemen injured.

An official told news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC that, Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) teams from the headquarters rushed to the spot and found a gas cylinder engulfed in flames inside the office building.

During the incident, SGCT Javaid Ahmad, who was posted at the office, acted swiftly and removed the burning gas cylinder from the premises, preventing a major mishap, official said.

He said the fire was later brought under control by F&ES personnel. However, during the rescue operation, the policeman sustained minor injuries and was shifted to a hospital where his condition is reported to be stable.

The firefighting operation was supervised by Director General Fire & Emergency Services Alok Kumar along with other senior officials present on the ground. (KNC)
