GMC Anantnag Remains Fully Functional on 77th Republic Day; Hundreds of OPD Consultations Were Given, and Hundreds of Investigations and Major and Minor procedures have been performed uninterrupted

Anantnag, 27 January 2026: On 77th Republic day, GMC Anantnag continued to offer its services to the people uninterrupted. Not only OPDs services were on but routine surgeries were performed as well when usually only emergency surgeries are performed on Gazetted holidays.

On 26 january, the total OPD consultations ( excluding follow up)at MMABM hospital offered were 1020 and as many as 101 new patients were admitted for inpatient care.

In addition to the above, the pediatric section provided OPD consultations ( excluding follow up) to
410 children ( 367 MMABM, 83 MCCH) and 61 patients got admitted for inpatient care.

The OBG department at MCCH gave OPD consultations to 221 patients and admitted 53 patients for inpatient care. In addition 12 normal deliveries were conducted and 17 Major surgeries were performed in the department.

The Cardiology department remained actively in service of the patients. Five Angiographies, 3 Angioplasties and one pacemaker installation were performed in the cath lab of the department.

One of the most important developments was the performance of routine surgical procedures at MMABM hospital and cases were not postponed on the pretext of a gazetted holiday. Three routine major surgeries were performed in the general surgery department and two routine surgeries were performed under GA in the ENT and HNS department. In addition to this many emergency surgeries were also performed uninterrupted in various departments of GMC Anantnag.

As reported by director laboratories GMC Anantnag, around a thousand laboratory investigations were performed at MMABM associated hospital. In addition total laboratory investigations collectively performed in OBG and Pediatric departments are over 800. Further 8 patients were given blood transfusions during the same time period.

In the department of Radiodiagnosis and Imaging 271 X rays , 86 Ultrasonographies and 37 CT scans were performed on 26 January 2026 only.
