ANANTNAG: Doctors at the Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag have successfully removed two ₹5 coins from the throat of a five-year-old girl who accidentally swallowed them at her home.
The child was rushed to GMC Anantnag by her panicked family after the coins became severely lodged in her food pipe, posing an immediate danger to her life. An emergency medical team quickly intervened, performing a delicate procedure to safely extract both coins.
The procedure was led by Dr. Anjum Shamim, Head of the Anesthesiology Department, in collaboration with Dr. Aamir, Head of the ENT Department, and their medical teams.
Hospital authorities confirmed that the procedure was completely successful, and the young girl is currently stable and out of danger.
Following the extraction, the treating doctors issued a vital advisory to parents and the general public. They urged parents to maintain strict vigilance over young children and to keep small objects such as coins, buttons, batteries, and small toys entirely out of their reach to prevent hazardous accidental swallowing and choking incidents.
