GMC Anantnag is set to train hundreds of its staff in Basic Life support (BLS).

IAP agrees to depute master trainers of national repute for this prestigious event

Anantnag, 26 February 2026: In the history of Jammu and Kashmir, for the first time hundreds of the employees of a medical college will be trained in Basic Life Support (pediatric and adult) during a massive training drive by the trainers of national repute. The master trainers will be deputed by the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) , the largest academic body of Pediatric medicine in Indian and the second largest Pediatric academic body in the world.

*The training course will be conducted under the patronage of Principal and Dean of GMC Anantnag Prof. Dr Rukhsana Najeeb who is a leading intensivist and critical care specialist from Jammu and Kashmir* . The head of department of Pediatrics and Head of family medicine GMC Anantnag Dr Showkat Hussain Tali will be the organising secretary for the event. *Apart from being the National trainer for IAP ALS BLS courses, Dr Showkat Hussain is also the Sate Co-ordinator for IAP ALS Courses for Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.*

At the instructions of Principal Prof Dr Rukhsana Najeeb, Dr Tali contacted the Central body of IAP ALS BLS courses who kindly consented to conduct the massive basic life support training drive at GMC Anantnag in the month of April 2026.

Principal GMC Anantnag has asked all the concerned to get registered and actively participate in the event in order to get appropriately trained to save the precious lives
